Careers Expo

The Careers Expo at Grantleigh is unique to our area and this year we had in the region of 50 - 60 presenters visiting our school to represent their institution or their field of expertise.

Choosing a career or 'the next step' after school is a daunting prospect and we strive to expose our students to as many options as possible.  Our intention is to have them investigate options which they might never have considered before.  Furthermore, having various institutions at the Expo saves them having to go to universities to do their research.  This year we had institutions such as the Durnacol Skills Innovation Hub (Apprentice Training) through to Rhodes University represented.  We had experts in a far ranging fields such as electrician, nurse, paramedic, homeopathy, various aspects of design, marketing, engineering and medicine, and many more.

The evening was compulsory for Gr 10 and 11, as these students are beginning serious investigation into future careers.  As in previous years, the response from the students was very positive.  Many came away inspired by what they saw and heard and some have already made firm decisions based on the evening.

Our thanks to Mrs Janice Hall for organising yet another successful Careers Expo.
